Parent Communication

Before you begin to try to communicate with parents, the best advice to give you is to first ask what communication methods are best for them. All parents aren't the same and their communication preference may vary. Pick two of the most commonly preferred methods and once you use the first method, you can copy the info over to the second method.

Evaluate your communication next by looking at what type of results you are having from the communication. Are your parents more involved with your classroom and activities? Are students more involved because parents are aware? Is your parent participation in events increasing?

After some time, ask parents again how well the communication process is going and what feedback do they have.

Here are a couple of amazing tools to help with Parent Communication. The main thing to remember is to keep your info current at least weekly. If you don't, parents will tend to stop looking and parent communication and participation will decrease.

Here are a few amazing choices but please feel free to explore other tools.

  • Teacher Site (check out the page to help with a teacher site)

  • Twitter or Facebook Class Accounts ( I would caution giving out personal accounts unless your information is educational)

  • Remind (announcements, chat, schedule for later, attach files, voice clips)

  • Bloomz (class updates, photo sharing, reminders, calendars, events, 2-way messaging, private and secure)

  • Buzzmob (share assignments with push notifications, send reminders, add events/photos,videos and chat with multi-language translation)
